Julianne Alexandra Hough is an American dancer, actress and singer who was born July 20, 1989 in Orem, Utah. Her parents are Marianne and Bruce Hough, and are active Mormons. He served two terms as the chairman of the Republican Party of Utah, and was elected national committeeman for the state party. Julianne is one of five children. She has three older sisters, and her brother, Derek, continues to dance professionally.

She grew up near Provo, Utah, a city of more than 500,000 residents. She was nine years old when she started dancing competitively. When she turned 10, her parents sent her and her brother Derek to London to study dance, gymnastics, theater and singing. At 15, she became the youngest dancer to win both the Junior World Latin Championship and the International Latin Youth Championship. She was the only American to win both. She later returned to the United States.

Upon returning stateside, Julianne began creating a career when she would be known as a triple threat: national recording artist, acclaimed actor and 2015 Emmy-award winning choreographer.

Juliann’s big break came when she was cast on ABC Television’s long-running hit, “Dancing With the Stars”.

Her portrayal of Sandy in the FOX Television musical, “Grease, Live!” was certainly noteworthy. The program was nominated for 10 Emmy Awards.  The 2016 MTV Movie & TV Award for Best Musical Moment was given to Julianne and the cast for their performance.

When she released her debut album in 2008, she earned high praise. In 2009, the Academy of County Music awarded her Top New Female Artist and Top New Artist.
